Condolences to Noelle and Jo from the Waikato who lost their lovely mare Holly recently.

The following article is from a recent edition of the Swingletree...

We were very sad on the 26 June to allow our Holly to join her friends in the 'horse kingdom in the sky' at 30 years old.

Holly came to us 18 years ago, and in that time has given us, and many other people, such a lot of pleasure. She would adapt her behaviour and activity to the size and capability of any rider, and was always trustworthy. Her adventures with us were many and varied, from casual fun rides to more serious attempts in a dressage arena, from combined drives to driving to a hunt, enjoying the chase under saddle, then driving us home again. To us, she was the perfect carriage horse. She taught us heaps, was always willing, and had a wonderful unique personality. Our only regret was that she never gave a foal, though she enjoyed the honeymoons.

We do miss her, and will always treasure her memory.

Lester and the Mule

Lester moved to the country and and bought a mule from an old farmer for $100. The farmer agreed to deliver the mule the next day.

The next day, the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry, but I have some bad news. The mule died."

"Well then, just give me my money back."

"Can't do that. I went and spent it already."

"Okay then, just unload the mule."

"What ya gonna do with him?"

"I'm going to raffle him off."

"You can't raffle off a dead mule!"

"Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he's dead."

A month later the farmer met up with Lester and asked, "Whatever happened with that dead mule?"

"I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at $2 a piece and made a profit of $998."

"Didn't anyone complain?"

"Just the guy who won. So I gave him his two dollars back."

Teenagers are people who express a burning desire to be different by dressing exactly alike.
